Frequently Asked Questions

What hosting services will my template work on?

These templates will work on virtually any hosting server. Our templates are designed using Microsoft FrontPage 2002. If you want to edit the website using FrontPage, you will need to use a server that is compatible with FrontPage. Tripod is a great hosting service for small websites and it is FrontPage compatible.

How do I edit my ready-to-use template?

I recommend using Microsoft FrontPage to edit the templates. However if you are good at html coding, once you upload your files to your server, you can login to the file manager provided by your hosting service to edit the files from there. I recommend to NOT change any code. Just delete the directions from the pages and insert your own text and photos into that area.

What version of FrontPage will my template work on?

Our templates are designed using Microsoft FrontPage 2002. So you can edit any of our templates using FrontPage versions 2000, 2002, and 2003.

What's the difference between a Unique template and a Non-Unique Template?

A Non-Unique template that is purchased means that other people can buy the template you have chosen some time later or may have purchases before you have. A Unique template that is purchased guarantees that you are the last person to buy this template. After you purchase the template it is permanently removed from our website and will never be available to other customers again. Only you and the people who bought the template before you did (through a non-unique purchase) will own it.

What are Cascading Style Sheets?

Cascading style sheets are used in all of our custom websites and templates that we create. Cascading style sheets are files that link to html documents (web pages) to control a page's appearance. From one simple style sheet a whole website's style can be easily managed.

What are Include Pages?

Our web templates use include pages for several elements on each page. We use include pages typically for each website's navigation and copyright notice. There are two include files used for navigation and they are usually named "Navigation.html" and "NavigationFooter.html". On these pages you can change the links for your pages, if you should decide to change any of the page names. Just open these pages and type in the new page names to update the navigation of your website in one easy step. Our copyright page is usually named "copyright.html". You may change the area that says "Your Name Here" the same way I mentioned above, BUT the link to our website below that section is NOT to be removed or changed.

When will I receive my Template/Website?

Ready-to-use templates purchased from our website with a credit card will be sent out after payment is received. Orders paid by an eCheck will not receive their templates until the check clears. Once we have been paid, we will send you an email with a link where you can download the zip file for your template. The zip file contains all files and images needed for your new website. You will need unzipping software to open the .zip archive. Windows users may visit www.HotScripts.com to download the unzipping software or www.WinZip.com. Mac users may visit www.StuffIt.com. Unzip the folder for your template and then import the unzipped files into the new website file that you created on your hosting service's server.

Custom designed websites are usually completed within a few weeks. Some websites may take a shorter amount of time and some may take longer. It is all according to what you are having done.

Do you offer refunds?

We do not offer refunds. These websites are considered computer software so we cannot give refunds on them. We provide you with a preview before purchase so you should know what you are receiving. We will resend the software if it is found to defective, we also provide free support if you need help. On our custom designed websites, we will work with you until you are satisfied with what we have created for you.

What am I allowed to use my template for?

You may use your template to build your website any way you like. You MAY NOT resell or distribute the templates to anyone (like we do) for any reason. You also may not take our link off the bottom of our websites or claim the work as your own.

Can I rename my template pages?

Yes you can rename your template pages using Microsoft FrontPage by "View" and then "Folders". From here you can see the files that are in your website. Make sure that all other pages to your website are not open in FrontPage and right-click the file that you would like to rename. Rename the file, leaving the extension (.html) intact and press the enter key on your keyboard. FrontPage will automatically rename the links in your website for you if you if you press "OK" when prompted and no pages are left open. If you do not use FrontPage to rename your pages, you will need to update all links in your navigation files to represent the new file names.

Can I add my own photos to my template?

Yes, you may add your own photos to your template pages. Please make sure that images are not too large or they will distort the look of your template. Large file sizes on your photos will also cause your pages to load slowly and you may lose visitors that are not patient enough to wait on them.

What are Meta Tags?

Meta tags are html codes that are inserted into the head section of your web page. These tags specify keywords and descriptions that the search engines use to look up your website when someone does a search (such as on Google). Every website and template that we create are optimized for search engines. Just open the code to your web page using FrontPage (or the editor of your choice) and place your desired keywords where it says "Your DESCRIPTION TEXT here" or "Your KEYWORDS TEXT here". Custom designed websites already have keywords and descriptions placed in these tags for you, but may be changed by you if desired.

Where do your images come from?

I create most of the images myself, either using Adobe Photoshop or taking photos with my digital camera. Some images used for our graphics come from stock photography and other free sources on the internet where I adapt them to suit my needs. I get these images from many different sources on the web, so if I have used an image that belongs to someone else and have forgotten to give credit for it's use, please let me know and I will give you the credit that you deserve! Quality graphics take a long time to produce and I believe it is only fair to give credit where credit is deserved.
